Cluj, Romania, March 12, 2008

The Romanian Ministry of Economy and Finance and Innovation Norway, in co-operation with the Norwegian Embassy in Romania, the Prefect's Office of the county of Cluj, the Regional Development Agencies and Chambers of Commerce in the North-West, West and Centre Regions of Romania organised a regional seminar for the promotion of the Norwegian Co-operation Programme and of the EEA Financial Mechanism on March 12th, 2008, in Cluj-Napoca. About 150 guests attended the event.

The opening session offered participants a practical overview of how the two programmes operate, including steps in the application process and funding procedures. An afternoon workshop focused on co-operation opportunities in the environment sector - a priority area under both programmes. Local authorities, representatives of public and private institutions, Romanian and Norwegian companies, NGOs and journalists from three regions of Romania (North-West, West and Centre), as well as representatives of the Norwegian Embassy in Bucharest, took part in the seminar.
